Fast Shutter to Capture Water Droplets

From water droplets (Canon EOS 60D)

I was always fascinated with several water droplet photos and so wanted to see if i could achieve something similar with just my basic canon 60D and 100 mm f 2.8 macro lens.

some tips for shooting water droplets
  • shoot in natural available light
  • use manual mode as auto focus might not focus accurately
  • using a 100 mm lens really helps as u get to keep your distance from the splashing water drops which otherwise may splash on to the lens
  • shooting in continuous burst mode may seem like cheating, but in the end all you want to do is get some stunning shots, so its ok
I didnt use a tripod as i figured i didn't need one since the lens has a large enough aperture of f 2.8. and i didnt use camera flash or external flash as the pics were taken outdoors with plenty of natural light

  1. Can it be done single handedly, I mean do I need a help of someone to drop something into the water to get those ripples or drops or droplets?

  2. no not needed... here i had a tap that was leaking...and so i had to time the shot well enough to capture the splash just as it hit the surface...

u can try the same thing...
