The Matheran Diaries - Day 2 - Sightseeing in Matheran

we woke up at around 8 am and after a quick but healthy breakfast at Lords Central Hotel decided to walk around Matheran, a decision that both of us would regret considering it would mean we would be walking for more than 6 km for about 3 hours! the terrain was rugged and we were tempted many a times to hire the local horse rides but decided to walk anyways.

the place is truly beautiful! the mountain ranges and peaks are a marvel of nature and the surrounding areas are mostly clean, except a few places where tourists seem to have no respect for the environment with plastic bags and bottles thrown at strategic points.

we saw at least 5 hill points and also visited a Parsi grave (separate blog post on that coming up) and after 3 hours of walking around in the heat, we landed back at Lords Central Hotel in time for lunch

fortunately theres a tea stall or refreshment counter every 1 km, so that got us recharged everytime. and theres a lot of monkeys around so try not to eat anything while walking or u run the risk of getting attacked by a troop of monkeys. lots of bird wildlife as well, but i was only carrying my 16-35 ultra wide lens with the 35 mm portrait lens with me.
