Shooting Landscapes with an ND filter and 24 to 105 mm f 4 L IS wide angle Lens

Shooting Landscapes with an ND filter and 24 to 105 mm f 4 L IS wide angle Lens

The view from my place here in Mangalore is absolutely stunning. I live at probably the highest elevation, and i can see the Arabian Sea just outside my window.

The golden hour in the evening is when the rays of the sun start to give a fantastic orange and red discharge and it looks really great esp if one shoots with ND Filters.

Now ND stands for Neutral Density and i use Marumi ND 4X filter.
The uses are
  • 4X filter reduces 75 percent of light volume which is equivalent to -2 stops exposure
  • great for long exposures and u can tweak the f stop right between f 11 to f 22
  • the light characteristics are not changed, just the light volume.

so u can see the results here. none of the photos were photo shopped by the way. i use Lightroom to add my water mark and another program called Frame Fun to add the borders around the pics. apart from that, what u see here, is exactly the way it was shot using Marumi NDX4 filter on Canon EF 24 to 105 mm f 4 L IS USM glass

  1. hi Pritham,

I liked the photos you posted on this site. The best thing I liked is the details (lens,Filter) you provided about the photos. Good work.
    Keep it up.
